Daisy and Donald

We have two new duckies on our pond! Their names are Daisy and Donald and they're Rouen ducks. Rouen's look sorta like Mallard's. The ducks belonged to Ross's two kids, Taylor and Austin. Ross is one of dad's pilot friends that was going to fly Sunshade here to spend the day with me and Putter. So far these plans haven't gotten off the ground so to speak!
Anyway, Taylor and Austin got these ducks for an Easter gift back in April. They came from Murray McMurray Hatchery and were just a day or so old! Imagine how adorable they were and how tiny! These kids raised these 2 ducks, with the help of their parents all by themselves and they took awesome care of them! The duckies adopted these two kids as their mom and dad and they followed them everywhere! They slept in a cardboard box at night and Ross bought Daisy and Donald their own pool to swim in. They've been growing like weeds and they've now outgrown their duckie pool and they need a pond to swim in so they asked us if Daisy and Donald could come live here. Of course we said yes - the more the merrier!
So this morning they brought them down and put them at the edge of the pond to get acquainted with our duck family.
Our resident ducks actually weren't too welcoming and maybe this was a good thing seeing as these 2 youngsters have never been in a BIG pond before.
Daisy and Donald eventually did get more comfortable and they did go into the water and gobbled up some yummy green pond algae.
Before too long they were back on land and that was the last of the pond!
It wasn't too much longer that Taylor and Austin kissed the duckies good-bye and headed for home! The two feather brains adopted mom immediately as their mother and dad as their father!

I'm trying to tell them that this is our mom and she doesn't want feather kids - only furkids!
Even Mitch isn't happy with the two new additions! We just want to chase them! The duckies sorta just hung around all day under the shade tree watching our every move until it was time for us to come inside. Dad was leary of leaving them outside overnight just yet so he put them in a cardboard box inside the barn with food and water. Hopefully they get more comfortable tomorrow!

The duckies were more nervous around Mitch than they were around me! I wonder why?

Can you guess what Mitch is chewing on? It's a swan feather! hehehehe Can you blame them!

Until next time...................

Love ya lots,

Hey M&M -

Duckies - that's very nice of you guys to let Daisy & Donald come live at your house....

Please tell Daisy & Donald we're pleased to meet them....

We would like to send a card for Maggie's birthday.

Hi Maggie!

That's so exciting to have two new feather kids living with you. Although Mitch may have to find something else to chew on from now on. LOL!~

I am so glad to see you guys are keeping well. Mitch is still getting into all kinds of mischief and his big sister is a little more patient with him then the last time I visited here.

Good on ya both

Oh how fun to get to live with ducks! I love to chase 'em. I try to herd them. Mostly I just want attention. I've never had duck feather--is it good, Mitch?

What cool birds! They're really big compared to the birds around my house.

Swan feathers, Mitch? Hmmm...sure, why not! I'd give it a try!

Ducks are fun... while I only chase 'em a bit, it's pretty cool to see them flap away when I get close. Good times.

Hmm.. no wonder Daisy and Donald are weary of Mitch! I'd be too if I were them! heheheee..
Hopefully they settle in soon with the resident duckies..

Hey Maggie,
Are you sure Donald & Daisy didn't escape from Disneyland or sumthing and try to seek refuge in your home? :)

OK, I'm totally confused. First you say the ducks are ruined, then you say the kids took good care of them. WHICH IS IT? We'd chase those ducks all day if it wasn't so hot!

Welcome Donald & Daisy, I hope they'll soon settle in and be accepted by the other ducks (if Mitch doesn't catch them first!)

Yeah, I can't blame the two duckies of being scared of him. Oh gosh, I hope he didn't ACTUALLY kill the swan. Where did he get that feather from anyway? Poor fella... But I think if I saw them two, I would chase them too!

Love licks,

I hope no ducks come to our yard because Emmy would eat them and Linda would freak out and it would just be an awful scene.

I've seen some ducks before and some geese. The geesers fly over my house in the fall making all kinds of racket and interupting my peace and quiet! I'm pretty sure if I got close to a duck I'd try to maul it. Sorry. They were cute though!

Your pal, Mackie the potential duck murderer.

Hey Maggie,
You didn't like our fireworks noises on the puter??? hehehehehehe! Hope you had a great 4th of July today. Your Papa was smart to put the duckies into the barn at night. It will take them both some time to learn to hide or run from danger. Hopefully there aren't any wild cats around, cause they will try to get the ducks. We hope they stay safe.
